The brilliance of our Māori and Pasifika books

Take a look at the pukapuka in our 2023 Māori and Pasifika Books catalogue.

We’ve also created five new shareable social media images to help showcase the breadth and depth of books in this catalogue.

In March, festival goers at Te Matatini and Pasifika Festival were delighted with these brilliant books. Now, to help keep them on everyone’s minds, we are sharing our fresh new set of social media images for our Māori and Pasifika Books catalogue on the Kete Books pages over the coming days — we’d love it if you would share them too.

These new images highlight some of the titles in each of five categories from the catalogue, including: fiction, non-fiction, poetry and plays, children’s (young children), and children’s (middle grade and young adult).

Please help us to keep spreading the word!

‘Like food, the knowledge within these books has been carefully prepared to provide sustenance for you when your mind hungers. They can be devoured in one sitting, or savoured in small morsels over time.

The saying “he pukapuka hei kai mā te hinengaro” reflects the important role books play in nourishing the mind and spirit. Celebrating the books within these catalogues pays homage to the timeless knowledge that has been passed down for generations as sustenance for the minds of tomorrow.’
