When Kiwi author Graci Kim had to cancel a planned tour of schools in the US last year, she did not let it stop her for long. Born in South Korea, and living in New Zealand since age 3, the New York Times-best selling author is known for her fantasy trilogy, Gifted Clans, set in current day Los Angeles, and inspired by Korean mythology and culture.

Dreamslinger is Graci's first book of a new series and it has just been announced as a finalist in the 2026 children and young adults book awards. And the second book in that series - Royalslinger - will be released later this month.

Graci spoke to Kathryn Ryan on Nine to Noon, RNZ National.
