Listen: Liv Sisson's new love in nature

03 November 2026 First published RNZ

After a best-selling book on New Zealand fungi, author, forager and nature lover Liv Sisson has a new book out.

This one is all about the butterflies and moths of New Zealand.

Liv says New Zealand is home to world-famous monarchs, a gold-flecked moth as old as dinosaurs, and butterflies that flash from purple to orange.

Her new book Butterflies and Moths of Aotearoa is a practical guide, replete with photographs and diagrams, as well as facts, up-to-date info and particularly where and when to find the various species.

She spoke with RNZ's Kathryn Ryan on Nine to Noon.
