With just two weeks until registrations close, now’s the time to get your National Poetry Day event on the calendar.
Be part of the nationwide celebration and join libraries, bookshops, schools and community groups across Aotearoa as they throw open their doors, share poems and celebrate the joy of words on Friday 28 August.
Every year, we're blown away by the creativity of communities big and small, and this year is already shaping up to be something special. Some fabulous events are coming together, and we’d love to see yours among them. Whether you’re expecting a crowd of 10 or 100, every event adds another voice to the celebration and helps make National Poetry Day truly unforgettable.
Thinking competition instead of event? Brilliant! Poetry competitions are always a highlight of National Poetry Day. If you’re running one for children, adults—or both—register it and we’ll include it in our Competition Calendar, making it easy for poetry lovers across Aotearoa to discover and take part.
