The Imaginings of the Heart

Niel Wright was the most prolific poet of New Zealand in the 1960s. In 1966, he had a book published in America by The Chiron Press in Lawrence, Kansas. This edition marks 60 years since the book was published and recognises a significant New Zealand poet.

The book includes forms that Wright became a foremost writer of such as the epigram and triolet. Other poems explore the Classical poet Palladus and range widely on ancient and modern subjects, a feature of his epic poem The Alexandrians.
