Leon has no one and nowhere to go, without either of those things: no reason to live. Sitting above a quarry he is thinking of jumping off the edge. Rain starts falling.

Walking a track she never has before, Hayley knows Leon is not telling the truth about being 'fine'.

While helping him rebuild his life, life as she knows it is destroyed. The catalyst in each other's evolution, the unlikely 'found family' is shredded when an idiot on a vendetta to right a historical wrong creates bloodshed.

The will to live becomes a sought-after item all over again.

What is meant for you will never miss you:

A stranger that rescues,

A love connection,

A bullet.

Some are given a life too heavy, they don't want it. Others have illness rip it from their fighting grasp while others are robbed in a split second of bad luck.

On a farm in Banks Peninsula's Charteris Bay, a family is built then demolished. Can you rebuild happiness after horror and will it be worth it?

A novel about magic connections, tragic circumstances and having resilience surge so you can protect who you care about.

About the Author

Allison O'Neill is an author who lives in New Zealand.

She writes about what it is to be human: relational trauma, challenges and resilience, courageous people and love. Relationships seem to be her natural landing spot.

In 2010 she released her (now unpublished) debut called Your Perfect Life before she got busy being a mum to three. Her second fiction release The Result of Kidnap was published in 2017. It is about a man on home detention after leaving prison. His story is heavy, but he overcomes his horrors, finds love and builds a family. The Edge of Myself, released in 2021, is about a man who accidentally sets himself on fire while in a drunken stupor, one year into a marriage that fell apart. A badly timed but magic love falls into his life right when he is definitely not looking.

Three Reasons to Live is her 2025 release. Allison originally wrote management articles that were published in The National Business Review, NZ Business, Idealog, Chamber of Commerce Magazines and HR magazines in Australia, the UK and USA. In 2008 she released a management book called The Boss Benchmark which Global CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Kevin Roberts endorsed, and brought 45 copies for his international management team.
