He pai tēnei pukapuka ki a mātou nā te mea, kua rongo i te reo e ororite ana. Nā tērā ka mīharo te pukapuka, ka pirangi au ki te pānui tonu. He tino reka nga kumara, he pai te kai kōhua nui, ā, he tino reka te parāoa parai.  Ka tunu kai mātou pēnā ki ō mātou kāinga, ā, mōhio pai nei mātou ki tērā momo. 

Ko ngā kupu hou ki a mātou, ka mutu, ka rata pai mātou ki ērā kupu, ko te tupuria, namunamuā, koropupū.

This book is about the big boil-up and how to make that delicious food. The mum teaches the child how to cut, gather, and cook this amazing food. These types of food come from the wider whānau.

We like this book because we can hear the language in rhyme. That makes the book exciting, and it makes me want to keep reading. The kūmara are really tasty, the boil-up is good, and the fried bread is delicious. We cook food like that at our homes too, so we know it well.

Some of the new words for us, which we really liked, were: tupuria (grown), namunamuā (delicious), and koropupū (bubbling).

This book is great for kids and families alike.
