Alan Woods
Biography
Raised on an East Otago farm I benefited from the occasional amusing story of my father's Second World War adventures. As an adult I learned the truth and determined to keep my father's story alive. I had grown up with the man himself and I had access to his story on an audio disk, but for the benefit of research, and in the style of John Le Carré, I travelled to Silesia to the site of my father’s last POW camp. Where he had worked in a coalmine before the Long March of 1945. Such personal experiences shape the book.
