Biography
Dr Te Kahautu Maxwell (Te Whakatohea, Te Whanau a-Apanui, Ngai Tai, Ngati Awa, Tuhoe, Ngati Porou and Ngati Maniapoto) is a professor in Maori and Indigenous Studies, University of Waikato. He is a renowned for his knowledge of matauranga Maori, te reo Maori and tikanga Maori, is a licensed translator and interpreter, and is a recognised composer and kapa haka exponent. He is also active in research and community and iwi activities, revitalising Maori language, knowledge and practices, and is a respected member of many regional and national boards and organisations.
