Jackie Meiring
Biography
After arriving in New Zealand in 2000, South African-born fashion and celebrity portrait photographer Jackie Meiring shifted her focus towards architecture and interiors (@jackiemeiring). Inspired by the work of New Zealand architects and designers, she developed a real passion for the genre. Her work has appeared in countless local and international magazines and books including Green Modern (2014), Small House Living (2015), Architecture at Home (2023) and Herbst (2024), among others. On the monographs Counter Constructions: Claude Megson (2016, her first book with Giles Reid) and Omata (2022) she was the sole photographer. The photos in this book were shot on a CANON 1Ds Mark III and a CANON 1DX Mark III.
After working as a graduate for Architectus, Giles Reid left for overseas and was employed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop on the design and construction of the Shard, first in Paris, then London, where he now lives. Following this, he started his own architecture practice (gilesreidarchitects.com), focusing on arts-related and domestic projects. He produces an ongoing series of books on forgotten New Zealand buildings. His monograph on emigre architect Henry Kulka was published in 2022.
