Jenny Setchell
Biography
Jenny Setchell was born in New Zealand, received her secondary schooling at Nga Tawa, completed a BA at the University of Otago, and has almost completed a Mus B at the University of Canterbury, majoring in organ performance. Although she has played organs in churches of various denominations for more than 40 years, her principal career was as a journalist for most of her working life. In 2005 Jenny left her job as a senior sub-editor at The Press, one of New Zealand's main metropolitan daily newspapers, to pursue her freelance activities. These include website design and maintenance, photography and writing. She has produced 3 books - all of them about pipe organs, and two published by the famous German music publishers Dr J. Butz: "Organ-isms: Anecdotes from the World of the King of Instruments" (2009), "Dem Himmel Nahe" (Looking Up at Pipe Organs and Ceilings) (2015), and most recently in 2017, "Organs and Organists: Their Inside Stories"
