Annamaria Garden began her working life as an economist at the Treasury in New Zealand and, when she moved to the UK, in the UK Treasury. However, she soon sought greener fields and via university in the UK and USA began working in the field of Organisation Behaviour. After 15 years she branched out into writing in this field and, after moving back to New Zealand in 2000, she wrote six books, one of which is a biography of her father. She now lives in Waiwera, Auckland, on the edge of civilisation and close to rural territory, and continues to write books.

Philip Garnock-Jones is a botanist, emeritus professor and former chair of botany at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. He is an internationally renowned expert on plant diversity and the author of over 100 scientific articles for local and international journals.

Philip worked in banking for 19 years before moving into publishing and book selling. He was a co-owner of the Epworth Books shop for many years. Philip's father and maternal grandfather were Methodist ministers, so learning to lead worship and becoming a Methodist lay preacher were natural steps. He identifies as a progressive, liberal Christian. He and his wife Heather share a passion for music, are members of Festival Singers of Wellington and lead the English language congregation's Singing Group at their church. They live in Wellington, New Zealand and have three creative adult children.
