Kaye was born in the Philippines. She had challenges as an adult neurodivergent. This is her inspiration for writing fun, engaging, and educational stories to teach life skills and mindfulness to kids. Waitthk is from Hongkong. She enjoys making people feel happy and joyful through her drawings. As a kid, she remembered drawing anime characters and coloring them with colored pencils. Since then, she kept on drawing.

Kimberley Kearney (Author)
Kimberley Ngareta Kearney (Ngāti Maniapoto, Tuhoe) spent many years as a primary school teacher where she developed a love for sharing stories with young minds. Embarking on a journey to re-indigenise her whanau and reclaim the language that was lost generations before, Kim was inspired to write The Lost Words as a tribute to her and many others' rediscovered treasure, te reo Māori. Celine Kearney is the granddaughter of three Irish-born grandparents, and one born to an immigrant Irish family in Central Otago. Born and brought up on the east coast of Otago, she has experience as a journalist and a researcher, and has taught English language to adults with migrant and refugee backgrounds, and international students for over thirty years. This is the second collection of her interviews to be published. An earlier collection of interviews of New Zealand women about their spirituality, “Faces of the Goddess”, drew on her own experience and understanding of nature-based Celtic spirituality. She travelled around the country between 2010 and 2013 to interview New Zealanders with Irish and Scottish backgrounds for her narrative inquiry, “Southern Celts”.
Brandon Keaton is a citizen of Aotearoa, and has called its beautiful capital city of Wellington home for over ten years. Some of his career highlights include slaving joyfully in big-box retail, making coffee for advertising execs, and duty-managing a craft beer brewery. He is also passionate about animals and has an undying affinity for gummy bears. Brandon is honoured to be able to support The Science Fiction & Fantasy Association of New Zealand, SpecFicNZ, and The Libertarian Futurist Society. One of the founders of Auckland University Women’s Liberation and originators of the Second Wave of feminism in New Zealand, Sue Kedgley is a former broadcaster who later was elected to Parliament as a Green Party MP. She has served as a local body politician and is a member of the Wellington District Health Board.
Michaela Keeble is a lover of birds, fish and social justice, who also publishes poetry and short fiction. She grew up on Wurundjeri land in Australia and now lives on the Kāpiti Coast. Paku Manu Ariki Whakatakapōkai is based on conversation with her son Kerehi Grace (Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Ngāti Porou).Tokerau Wilson is a Cook Islands Māori illustrator and multimedia artist. Co-director of Māori Pasifika art gallery Wheke Fortress, Brown is also a musician, audio engineer and animator.
This edited book has contributions from teachers, graduates, administrators, and students from Te Huarahi programme. The editors have been heavily involved in the programme. They are current lecturers in the programme or are graduates and leaders. The contributors have extensive experience in education in Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas and are experts in their field. The chapters cover the history of the programme and its philosophy and principles. Some chapters include interviews with current and former graduates.
LINDA JANE KEEGAN is a writer and outdoor enthusiast with a background in ecology and environmental education. She is also a volunteer marine mammal medic through Project Jonah who assisted at the stranding the story is based on. Her previous book Things in the Sea are Touching Me! (Scholastic, 2019) was a 2020 Storylines Notable Book, shortlisted for best children's book in the 2020 NZ Booklovers Award, and shortlisted for best picture book in the 2019 NZCYA Book Awards.
