Grant Robertson was a member of Parliament for fifteen years, including being New Zealand's Minister of Finance from 2017 to 2023 and Deputy Prime Minister from 2020 to 2023. In addition, he was Leader of the House, and held Ministerial portfolios in Infrastructure, Sport and Recreation, Racing, Earthquake Commission, Cyclone Recovery and an Associate Ministerial role in Arts, Culture and Heritage.
Jane Roberston has lived in Governors Bay at the head of Whakaraupō Lyttelton Harbour for twenty years. She has a doctorate in education, has taught history and English, and worked as a teacher-educator, a researcher in the field of higher education and an editor and local history researcher/writer. Her previous publications include a short history of Risingholme Community Centre and a significant local history, Head of the Harbour about Governors Bay, Ohinetahi, Allandale and Teddington. Her interest in the history of the area developed when she was co-editing the local Bay News and decided to record the memories of some older residents.
Deborah Robertson is a secondary school teacher, and she completed the Master of Creative Writing at the University of Auckland with first class honours. In 2014, she won the inaugural Teach First NZ essay competition, and she has had short works published by Radio New Zealand and Teach First NZ. Deborah is a scout leader and enjoys trail running and tramping and has hiked extensively in the region where Before George is set. She grew up in a semi-off-grid environment, and rode horses, cooked on a wood stove and grew food. Photo Huia Publishers.

Belinda Robinson grew up in Wellington, New Zealand, and gained a MA(Hons) in English Literature from Victoria University/Te Herenga Waka. She has had a lengthy career in marketing communications as a copy/content writer, creative director, brand manager and web content manager, most recently at the University of Auckland. Belinda is also her father Bruce Mason's literary executor. She lives on Waiheke Island, Auckland, with her husband Steve.
