Ruby Solly (Kāi Tahu, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe) is a writer, musician and taonga pūoro practitioner living in Pōneke. Her first book, Tōku Pāpā, was published in 2021 and longlisted for the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards. She has had poetry published in Aotearoa, Australia, America and Antarctica. In 2020 she released her debut album, Pōneke, and in 2021, Bird Like Men, as part of the group Tararua. She is currently completing a PhD in public health, focusing on the use of taonga pūoro in hauora Māori.

She has been published in journals such as Landfall, Starling, and Sport, among others. In 2020 she released her debut album, Poneke, which looks at the soundscapes of Wellington's past, present, and future through the use of taonga puoro, cello, and environmental sounds. She is currently completing a PhD in public health, focusing on the use of taonga puoro in hauora Maori. Toku Papa is her first book.
Sir Mark Wiremu Solomon KNZM (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Kurī) served as kaiwhakahaere of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, the tribal council of Ngāi Tahu, for approximately 18 years, from 1998 until 2016. Founder of the Iwi Chairs Forum, he stepped down as deputy chair of the Canterbury District Health Board in late 2020. Mark Revington is a freelance journalist who has worked for many leading publications including National Business Review, the Listener and Unlimited. His awards include Westpac Financial Journalist of the Year and business magazine editor of the year. He spent six or so years working for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and he holds a post doctoral diploma in entrepreneurship from the University of Otago.
Author Jennifer Somervell is the author of the award-winning Tales From the Farm picture book series, based on her childhood adventures growing up on a New Zealand farm in the 1970s. Her six books have all won first place awards in the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards for excellence in children's literature. Illustrator Zerika Van Jaarsveld cut her artistic teeth drawing on the walls of her grandmother's family home in Namibia.. 'A Baa-rilliant Adventure' is Zerika's fourth book. Marco Sonzogni is a cultural activist based in Wellington, New Zealand. From 1993 to 2004 he lived in Dublin, Ireland, and read every word written by James Joyce.
Paul Sorrell took up photography in the early 2000s, giving him a new form of creative engagement with his longstanding interest in wildlife and the natural world. His images have featured on a range of platforms, from international wildlife photography competitions to Tourism New Zealand’s website.
M. P. K. Sorrenson (Pukenga, Wairaka and Toroa of Mataatua) began as a junior lecturer in the University of Auckland history department in 1958 and completed a DPhil at Oxford and further research in East Africa, before returning to Auckland in 1964. He taught at the University for the next 31 years. His other publications include Ko te Whenua te Utu: Land is the Price: Essays on Maori History, Land and Politics (AUP 2014) and Na To Hoa Aroha: From Your Dear Friend: The Correspondence Between Sir Apirana Ngata and Sir Peter Buck, three volumes (1986-1988). Sorrenson was president of CARE in the 1970s, sat on the council of the NZ Historic Places Trust for a decade and was a leading member of the Waitangi Tribunal for 25 years.
