Ariana Tikao is an award-winning Kai Tahu author, artist, composer and Arts Foundation Laureate. Her most recent publication was the acclaimed 'Mokorua: My Story of Moko Kauae'. Mat Tait is an award-winning artist and author, whose recent books include the visually stunning 'Te Wehenga: The Separation of Ranginui and Papatuanuku' and 'The Adventures of Tupaia' (with Courtney Sina Meredith).

Leo Timmers was born in 1970 in Belgium. At the age of 12 he started to draw comics and later trained in graphic design. He illustrates for magazines and newspapers and has released many successful picture books. He has a large following as one of Belgium’s pre-eminent picture book artists.

Francis and Kaiora Tipene are the proprietors of Tipene Funerals, a New Zealand funeral business based in Onehunga and Henderson, Auckland. Both hail from Northland, New Zealand - Francis from Pawarenga, Kaiora from Kaitaia. The now married couple met at Maori Teacher's Training College before embarking on a life devoted to their passion for helping people at times of great need. In 2018 they starred in the first season of what The Spinoff called 'the greatest local comedy of 2018', The Casketeers, now in its fourth season. Francis is a graduate of the WelTec Funeral Directors course and started in the industry over 15 years ago, working as duty driver in Auckland. Kaiora is also a qualified funeral director. Tim Tipene (Ngāpuhi) is a children's writer and founder of Warrior Kids, a community organisation working with at-risk children. After teaching self defence for women and facilitating anger management and Living Without Violence programmes for men, Tipene turned his attention to working with children. He is the author of several books for children and adolescent novels, and his Haere — Farewell Jack, Farewell, illustrated by Huhana Smith, won the Honour Award in the Picture Book category of the 2006 New Zealand Post Book Awards.
