Peta Carey has had a long association with Fiordland. She has made documentaries and written extensively on various projects in Dusky and the greater Fiordland over the last 20 years. 'Tamatea/Dusky' is her third book. Carey lives just outside Queenstown, New Zealand.
Internationally and locally Urzila is a sought-after act, both as a stand up headliner and as an MC. Since taking the comedy stage in 2008 she has had five sold-out seasons at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, television appearances on Spicks and Specks, Dirty Laundry, Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Great Debate with Barry Humphries, Comedy Up Late as a guest and a host, and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Galas. Urzila has also sold out festival shows in Perth, Sydney and Adelaide Comedy Festivals, and performed for Just For Laughs at The Sydney Opera House. Sandra Carrod is a qualified teacher who has written non-fiction and fiction titles for children, including Weather Watch New Zealand. She and her family travelled the world by yacht for many years, and she worked in documentary film making. Sandra lives in Tauranga. Karsten Schneider obtained a doctorate in marine science before launching into a career in computer graphics and design. He lives in Dunedin.
Sally Carson is an environmental educator and marine scientist with considerable experience leading educational initiatives where school students and the wider community engage with the marine environment, develop science skills and learn how to be kaitiaki for the coast. She has been the driver behind a number of community education initiatives including the Aquavan, and Marine Metre Squared, a national citizen science project on long term monitoring of the NZ seashore. Sally is currently the director of the New Zealand Marine Studies Centre, Dept of Marine Science, University of Otago. Rod Morris is a wildlife photographer, documentary- maker, and natural historian who has contributed to some 30 books over the course of his career. His particular interest lies in collaborating on field guides and other nature books accessible to children, where his nature photography can showcase not only the characteristic features of our lesser-known native animals and plants, but also unique aspects of their behaviour.
