Majella Cullinane writes poetry, fiction and essays. Her second collection Whisper of a Crow’s Wing (Otago University Press and Salmon Poetry, Ireland) was chosen as The Listener’s Top Ten Poetry Books of 2018. Her writing has been published internationally, and she has held residencies and fellowships in Ireland, Scotland and New Zealand. She was awarded a Copyright Licensing New Zealand Grant (2019) and a Creative New Zealand Arts Grant (2021) to complete Meantime. She graduated with a PhD in Creative Practice from the University of Otago in 2020. She lives in Kōpūtai, Port Chalmers with her family.

Ruth Dallas

Matthew Cunningham is a passionate and dedicated historian with a Doctor of Philosophy (History) from Victoria University of Wellington. He has published oral histories, peer-reviewed articles, journalistic and encyclopedic pieces, and Waitangi Tribunal research commissions. He lives in Porirua, New Zealand, and works as a researcher. He is active on Facebook and is a member of a number of parent groups, including several for gifted children. Abigail and the Birth of the Sun (Puffin 2019) was his first published children's book. Sarah Wilkins is an award winning illustrator whose images can be found on buildings, buses, bags and many other curious places around the world, but they feel most at home on the pages of beautiful books. Sarah illustrates from a light-filled studio perched high on a hill overlooking the Wellington Harbour. She is curious about visually communicating science for young and old, and completedAbigail and the Restless Raindrop while completing her Master in Science in Society. Roger Curtis was born in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, and has lived there all his life. He serves as an elder and is active in Prison Ministry. He and his wife Rachel run a horticultural contracting business, which has often been used as an employment pathway for inmates on 'work to release', or for people who are simply looking for a fresh start. Roger and Rachel have eight children, three now married and all participating in the life of the church.

CHRIS DAVIES CURTIS was born in Yorkshire, England and trained to be a nurse in Birmingham. She married Londoner Ken and they moved to the British Channel Isle of Sark. After several years of running their guest house and smallholding and nursing, they travelled to New Zealand, touring in a Bedford van and working for two years from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island. Returning to live in NZ Chris became a rural district nurse. After her marriage ended she returned to Sark to 'the love of her life.' Sir Toby Curtis (Ngāti Rongomai, Ngāti Pikiao) had a distinguished teaching career before lecturing at AUT University. After retiring to Rotoiti, Rotorua, he led the Te Arawa Lakes Trust for 16 years, among many other roles. Sadly, he passed away before this book could be published. From a farming background, Lorraine Berridge McLeod was an early childhood teacher and then a lecturer in education in Aotearoa and later the United Arab Emirates. A long-time friend and colleague of Sir Toby’s, she lives in Urenui, Taranaki.
