Zoe Rankin grew up in Scotland. She studied International Relations with Arabic before going on to qualify as a teacher. She spent many years travelling in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, and eventually settled in New Zealand. Her father was in mountain rescue in Scotland, and so her passion for the outdoors grew early. Nilima Rao is a Fijian Indian Australian who has always referred to herself as 'culturally confused'. She has since learned that we are all confused in some way (and has been published on the topic by Australia's Special Broadcasting Service as part of the SBS Emerging Writers Competition, so now feels better about the whole thing). When she isn't writing, Nilima can be found wrangling data (the dreaded day job) or wandering around Melbourne laneways in search of the next new wine bar. A Disappearance in Fiji is her first novel, and she is currently working on the second in the series.
Originally from South India, Sudha Rao migrated to Dunedin with her parents and trained in classical South Indian dance. She moved to Wellington to establish Dance Aotearoa New Zealand (DANZ). Sudha's poems have appeared in literary journals and anthologies in New Zealand and overseas, including Ko Aotearoa Tātou | We Are New Zealand and Best New Zealand Poems. Sudha was a participant in the International Bengaluru Poetry Festival 2019 and performs in Wellington with Meow Gurrrls.

Vaughan (Te Atiawa) commutes between homes in Hong Kong, Philippines, and Aotearoa. He is widely published in both his main languages, te reo Maori and English. His work has been translated into Bahasa Malaysia, Italian, French, Mandarin, Romanian and Spanish.

Max Rashbrooke is a Wellington-based writer and public intellectual. His books, led by the best-selling 'Inequality: A New Zealand Crisis' (new edition 2018), have helped transform national understanding of income and wealth disparities. Rashbrooke's journalism has appeared in major outlets worldwide, including The Guardian, the Economist Group and the New Zealand Herald. He was the 2020 J.D. Stout Fellow at Victoria University of Wellington, and is a research associate of the Institute for Governance and Policy Studies. His TED.com talk on renewing democracy has had over 1 million views.
